Add Friday night & make it a weekend!!!

Cheesecake Farms might be smack in the middle of Virgina's gracious horse country but it's wine country, too!

And there's no better way to spend the day than meandering (and tasting) the fruit of our vines!!

Our "Visit the Local Wineries" package is just what you need to make your day one to linger over....

  • Check in Saturday morning.

  • Unwind and relax as you learn (sip by sip) the proper way to taste wine. In our hands on class you'll learn to swirl, sniff & taste to uncork wine's ultimate pleasure.

  • After class, we'll send you off with a gourmet picnic lunch to practice your skills at our local wineries.

  • Spend a leisurely day sipping your way from vineyard to vineyard.

  • There's even a goodie bag of winery discounts and wine trail map so you won't get lost!

  • Return to the outside world refreshed and with your new wine tasting skill.

  • We'll even send you off with one of our cheesecakes as a sweet reminder of your stay!

The Wine Tasting Class

  • Experience the elegance that is wine in our wine tasting class that comes as part of the package.
  • This class is not about tasting different wines but rather tasting the depth of wine.

In our fun and informal class, we'll show you the correct way to taste wine using the Five S's of wine tasting...... See...Swirl...Sniff...Sip...& Savor.  That’s how the pros do it! .

You'll bring a tasting sample of your favorite wine to class to use in discovery.

After class, you’ll head out to our local wineries (with a goodie bag full of coupons & discounts) to practice your new skills!

You will have developed a new appreciation for the elegance that is wine and an understanding of what all the excitment is about.

You'll come away looking like a pro to even your most wine savvy friends!

What to Bring for Class

Each person must bring the following supplies to class:

  • 2 wine glasses of the same size and shape.  Glasses should be clear and not colored glass.
  • 2 unblended wines of the same type but from different regions or vintage years - about ½ cup each in separate, labeled containers or bottles.  Choose your favorite wine!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

For Example:

1 (1/2 cup) Merlot – California (region)

1 (1/2 cup) Merlot - Virginia (region)

Same wine (Merlot) but from different regions (California & Virginia)

OR

1 (1/2 cup) Merlot - Virginia 1990 (vintage year)

1 (1/2 cup) Merlot - Virginia 2006 (vintage year)

Same wine (Merlot) from the same region (Virginia) but from different vintage years (1990 & 2006)

Choose your favorite wine - either red or white but not both.

Bring single variety wines.  Do not bring blends.

In addition to regular size bottles, lots of wines come in small bottles boxes & splits for your convenience.

If you are coming with others, you can bring whole (750ml) bottles allowing 4 to 6 per bottle for tasting purposes.

Choose only 1 variety of wine

But choose 2 different regions or 2 different vintage years

White Wine Examples

(Do not bring blends)

Chablis

Chardonnay

Pinot Gregio

Riesling

Viognier

White Bordeaux

Red Wine Examples

(Do not bring blends)

Bordeaux

Cabernet Franc

Shiraz

Confused on what to bring?

Here are examples:

Choose 2 white or red, unblended wines by either regions or vintage years.

Do not mix region and vintage.

Choose regions OR vintage years.

Be sure to label your wines so you know which is which.

It doesn’t matter if they are chilled or at room temperature.
