  • An easy way to test the water temperature for the yeast without a thermometer is to stick your finger into the water (up to the knuckle) and let it sit in the water for about a minute. 

If the water feels comfortable, it’s the right temperature. 

If you have to pull your finger out quickly, it’s too hot. 

If it feels chilly, it’s too cold.
